Monday/ Tuesday March 11/12 Before and After by William Hogarth

Of note: take a look at the map below. Thoughts?

Monday/ Tuesday Before and After by William Hogarth

Learning targets: I can analyze the impact of the author's choices regarding how to develop and relate elements of a story.
I can introduce precise, knowledgeable claim(s), establish the significance of the claim(s).

Below you will find two images of engravings made by William Hogarth in 1736.  In class, I have brought in originals from the initial printing. These will be in classroom only on Monday and Tuesday.

ASSIGNMENT: Whilst you can easily look up background material on these prints, I am asking you to see the images, not merely look at them. Start by listing what you observe in one picture and compare it the other. What has changed? What cultural / societal dynamic is at play here?  In approximately 250 words, discuss the above questions.  Have fun!
